Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
