Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
